How to bake a chocolate cake
Make a tasty homemade chocolate cake that everyone will love.
Ingredients
- 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup of milk
- 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 1 cup of boiling water
- Butter and flour for prepping the pan
Equipment
- 2 round pans
- Parchment paper
- A large bowl
- A small bowl
- A wood spoon
- A hand mixer
- A wire rack
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 2
Butter and flour the bottom of the pans. Cover the bottoms of the pans with parchment paper and butter and flour them as well.
Tip
You can use nonstick spray instead of butter and flour.
Step 3
Combine and mix the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt together in a large bowl.
Step 4
Beat the eggs, milk, oil and vanilla in the small bowl with a hand mixer. Then add the boiling water and mix.
Step 5
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until the batter is smooth.
Step 6
Pour the batter and distribute evenly into the pans. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
Step 7
Test the cakes to see if they are done. Insert a toothpick; if it comes out clean then the cakes are done. If not, then put them back in the oven, checking every few minutes.
Step 8
Take the cakes out of the oven and allow it to cool for 5 to 10 minutes in the pans. Then transfer to the cooling rack to allow them to cool completely.
Step 9
Frost the top of one of the cakes and stack the other on top. Now frost it completely.
